When you choose a PLR product you are choosing a product that you can sell in order to make money. Thus, you want to ensure that it has the potential to shift as many units as possible, so that you can maximize your turnover, revenue and profits.
More to the point though, you are also selecting a product that is going to be representing you and your brand. This is going to be a product that you market as something you made and if it’s anything less than brilliant, then you will risk damaging your reputation and your brand.
With all that in mind then, read on and we’ll take a look at some of the crucial checks you need to make before settling on a PLR product.
What’s the Niche an Who is the Target Audience?
First, you need to ensure that the niche is someting that you are happy to associate with and that you have some basic interest/knowledge in. If it’s something that you know well, you will find it much easier to promote it. Better yet, if it’s a niche that you already have an audience in, then you’ll have a ready made audience you can sell it to!
Once you know the niche, you can ten start to ask who the target audience is. Ideally, you want an audience that is easy to reack and that is likely to be willing to spend on PLR products.
What Extras Should a PLR Product Come With and How is it Selling Currently?
A high quality PLR product should come with a host of free extras that can help you to sell more copies. These will traditionally include marketing materials such as a sales pages and emails you can sen out but as well as that, they will also often include bonus materials such as mind maps and cheat sheets. The more extras, the more value you are getting and the more value you can pass on to your customers.
Depending on the seller, you might be able to access data regarding current sales. This will give you an idea as to how many books are being sold right now,, which in turn demonstrates the kind of success that you are at least capable of having with an ebook.
One important thing to consider is how the book is written. If the book is written in pidgin English, then you will damage your brand and upset your customers if you sell it at full price.
A PLR package normally includes an ebook or digital product that you are allowed to resell to other buyers, along with various other “extras” that will help make that easier. These extras are essentially marketing materials that you can use to promote your product, add value and encourage more ‘conversions’. It is extra value for you and if everything goes to plan, it will increase your turnover while reducing the amount of work you need to do to encourage sales.
So, what kinds of extras can you expect to find included when buying PLR products? Just a fre examples include:
Sales Pages – A sales page is a page designed entirely to help you sell a product. This is a page for a website that has no other purpose than to guide new visitors to the action button (the ‘buy now’ button) and thereby help you to make a sale.
This singualar aim means that the page will be designed with no external links and all the content will be written specifically to encourage people to want to buy from you. It’s a very powerful tool and a great freebie to have in place.
Mind Map – A Mind Map is just one example of a free gift you can offer along with your ebook. This is a quick visual reference that your buyers can use to recap on everything they learned in the book.
Resource Sheet – Similary, a resource sheet will normally show people where they can find further reading or tools related to your topic. If you are an affiliate for any products, this a a great place to sneak in a few URLs!
Blog Posts – Blog posts can be used to create your own blog, or alternatively they can be given away to other bloggers to use as ‘guest posts’. Include a link bak to your page and that is some easy marketing for you!
Email Content – Likewise, it is common to find that you get ready-made email campaigns including the email bodies and the subject lines. All you need to do is these into an autoresponder in order to start driving traffic to your sales page.
Free Report – A free report will often act like a ‘preview’ for your book. It can incentivize people to sign up to your mailing list, all while demonstrating the kind of excellent information and content they can expect if they order your full product.
How to Tell if a PLR Product is High Quality Before You Buy It
Want to make product from a PLR product? Then the single most important thing to ensure is that the product in question is high quality. The better the quality of your product, the easier you will find it is to sell. Not only that, but it will also help you avoid giving out lots of refunds and it will make it easier to make repeat sales.
The only problem is that you won’t know just how well-made the product is until you start selling it. Or will you? Here are some methods you can use to at least increase the chances of finding a winner rather than a dud…..
Check the Website – Is the website generally well designed? Does it have high production values? And what is the content around the site like? If the site is low quality, this generaly doesn’t bode well for the quality of the content being sold either. Consider that a big warning sign!
Look for a Preview – Many PLR sites will let you read previews or snippets of their books and courses. If the site you are on does not provide that option, then perhaps get in touch with the owner to see if they will let you have a free sample.
Check out the ToC – Most sites that sell PLR content will include a table of contents for you to see. This shows you precisely what is in teh book and while it won’t guarantee quality, it at least gives you some assurance that the topics being tackled will be interesting.
Does it Have Something to Say? – When cinsidering the ToC and the title for that matter, ask yourself whether the book has something worthwhile and orginal to sell. One of the biggest warning signs that a book is just a ‘cash grab’, is if the subject matter is purely focussed on making money. Does it sound genuinely interesting? Does if offer something a bit different from 99% of all other books out there? Or is it just a generic ‘How to Make Money Online’ ebook?
Is it Right for You? – Just as omportant as ensuring the ebook is high quality is to ensure that if fits with your brand, your website and your ethos. If you know the subject well, if it’s something you are genuinely interested in and if you already have a large audience that enjoys the same niche, then these are all very good signs!
If you are selling PLR products your job is to convince people who land on your website to make a purchase. You already have the product and you may even have purchased marketing materials along with it to convince people to visit your page. From here, it is up to you to ‘set the deal’ by getting people to buy and that means you need a page that converts.
Partly this is down to the sales script but on top of that, it is also down to teh way that you have presented the sales page and what it conveys. Most important, it is down to your ability to overcome the ‘barriers to sale’ – the points of resistance that we all meet when considering making any purchase.
